My name is Derek, and by Philly-ish, I mean that I am just on the outskirts of the city limits in Flourtown. New to the site, but not new to brewing. I just joined the site a couple of days ago, while doing a search on building a RIMS system. Looking to make the switch to all grain by the end of the summer. While doing research on the RIMS system, I got sucked into building a lager fridge. Should have that completed this weekend.
More about myself: My wife and I have been brewing beer for 7 (I think) years now. Currently only partials, but have seemed to finally get that much more repeatable than when we first started. We are part of the G.L.U.B. Club (General Lafayette Underground Brewers Club - sadly the GLI is now defunct). Same name, just have a new meeting place in Chestnut Hill.
I have a house Citra Pale Ale that is always on tap, and other brews (whatever strikes my wife's fancy) go on the second tap. Currently a Dunklewisse is in the primary, a pale ale in the secondary, and a Schwarzbeir is planned to be brewed this weekend.
Outside of brewing, my hobbies include: woodworking, ice hockey, mt. Biking, and BBQ. Hopefully by the end of the summer I should have a new smoker on a trailer, and if planned right, the single tier brew rig will also be able to be loaded on the trailer and double as a 3 burner stove for BBQ events.
In any event, looking forward to learning much more from everyone here!
