Hey guys, the names Pat, and currently im goin to Southern Oregon University for geology. Just recently thought about home brewing, and thought I would try to get all my ducks in a row before a actually started.

Currently I'm looking at all of the starter kits out there, and it looks like I can go the 5 gallon route, or the 2 gallon Mr. Beer route.

I think im leaning more towords the 5 gallon kits, seems like theres more to experiment with, and the Mr. Beer things look kinda cheesey.

Can't wait till me and my roomies brew our own brews!!!!:mug:

Hey, welcome to HBT. Love Ashland, great little town. Also love Caldera and Standing Stone beers.

yea, Dead Guy's quite good. But I'm originally from Bend, so Deschutes is my bread and butter, and my inspiration to brew, hopefully something that good.

Welcome aboard! If you're not sure what sort of a system you want, I recommend www.howtobrew.com. It's a great resource for new brewers. Happy brewing!

Go the 5 gallon. You'd proabaly outgrow the Mr Beer fairly quick. Most recipes are for 5 gallons anyways.

A 5 gallon kit is better. You can make smaller batches if you want without any problem.
