Hi all! I have to say, just by reading the threads, this has to be the most collaborative group of people on earth, the Homebrewer.... I'm a newb, just looking into and reading How to Brew, trying to grasp all the monetary needs this is going to require to get started.

A little about myself, grew up in Virginia and North Carolina, and homebrewing and distilling operations has been in my family for generations. I remember my grandfather would pop open a homebrew during the summer while I would stay with him in the country, I loved watching the blue steam (CO2) as he opened the bottles :) ahhhh to be young again.... anyway, I started getting interested in homebrewing several years ago, and felt that it need not be lost in my family. Unfortunately, grandpa never handed it down :( so here I am, ready to sponge :mug:

Greetings from Pittsboro - there seem to be lots of folks on here from NC. HBT is a great place to learn all about brewing and the members here have a wealth of knowledge, so speak up if you need any help.

Welcome aboard!!! I am not originally from NC but the homebrewers out here seem to come out of the woodwork. Happy brewing.

Hey from Wake Forest!

I started about a year ago and I'm hooked for life! So many good discussions and VERY quick responses when you have a question. Never felt dumb for any of my Newb questions that I posted. Also, you may want to check out YouTube as there are tons of videos of home brewing. It helped me out a lot. Search Craig Tube and he has a few good basic videos to watch.

Good luck brewing!

Chris

Hi from over in Graham.

There is a LHBS in Greensboro, it's triad homebrew supply, near the intersection of Market and Guilford College Rd if memory serves. Google it and it should come right up.

Yep, Triad Homebrew Supply - Market St/Guilford College, I don't know if it's any good, but who am I to judge HA! I haven't had the chance to stop in there yet, was planning on going over this weekend to check it out.... I'm hoping I can get grains pretty fresh from there, otherwise I'll be ordering from midwestsupplies.

Ah, a fellow brewer in the 'Boro.

Triad Homebrew is decent depending on who is working there. Prices are ok. They've lowered their hop prices lately which is nice. Also check out 5th Season Gardening off Battleground. It's a combo homebrew/hydroponic shop, so there are some...interesting...characters there, but they've got good prices and are generally pretty nice guys.
