Just wanted to take a moment to say hi and introduce myself. I've been wanting to enter into the home brewing hobby for a long time, and now I've finally made the commitment. I was stationed in Germany for 10 years and I miss the great beer. I hope to bring a little of that magic home. I know I could buy the real deal at a specialty bottle shop, but, it looks like a lot more fun trying to make it myself. I look forward learning from you all.

Hello from a fellow newbie from WI! I just did a German Pub beer last winter that was insanely good. Found the recipe in a book, how was it worded? Oh yes, apparently each pub in Germany has it's own special beer, and it was one of those.....the stuff was fantastic....I will dig and see if I can find that recipe for you. I am in Appleton, WI. Not sure how far apart we are but it is good to meet you! And Thanks for your service! Because of people like you my family and I are safe and Free!

Welcome to the hobby, and the group. Actually, by the time beer gets here from Germany, it isn't the same. You can, with dedication, make your own German Style lagers and ales that are better than the ones in the bottle shop.

Thanks for the warm welcome fellow cheesehead. I would really be interested in that recipe if you can find it. I just brewed my 1st hefe weissen today and I feel like an expectant father waiting for it to arrive. Take care and let me know if you come up with anything.

Thanks for the welcome and the motivation. If I can anywhere approach the taste of the beer that I remember, over there, I will have surpassed my goals.
