Yes, please do read, read, read. So many, including myself, get a kit and start. The instructions with kits leave a lot of necessary information out. I started my first fermentation too warm. Fortunately I realized that quickly and started reading here on day 2. Too many threads about "I have done 5 kits and they all were bad". No one should wait that long before researching to find an answer to the problem.

I started with Northern Brewer extract kits. I highly recommend them.

My advise is to start with at least 2 kits, get one started, and fairly soon after, get the second one going. You will be amazed at how quickly 50 bottles of beer vanish! Especially if you share them!

Hi fellow NE'er. I'm also "starting" in although I have brewed in the past (30 years). I have all new equipment that I'm designing and fabricating for 10-gallon AG batches. I'm taking my sweet time, finding inexpensive items and DIY projects of all sorts to keep costs down. For reading, I have John Palmer's "How to Brew" and Greg Noonan's "Brewing Lager Beer"- both quasi technical books packed with great info. I also subscribe to Brew Your Own magazine for lighter reading. Keep in touch as you find/make equipment, I'm interested in your progress. Happy lurking.
