Hey all,
I'm not new to brewing but I am new to the forums. After some time off with small kids, I'm back into the hobby and eagerly getting back on to a production schedule.
I first started brewing sometime in the mid 90s when I was single and an apartment to myself. I've always been an extract guy but I've never brewed a kit. I've always been a cook and can loosely follow a recipe and improvise with confidence. So when I first started, I read Papazian cover to cover and then started with recipes. DME, hop pellets, plastic buckets, dry yeast, and a few specialty grains thrown in and I make pretty good beer. A Sam Adams clone and a brown ale are my go-to brews. I've never been bitten by the bug to go all-grain.
Later in married life, my brewing career hit a snag after my first born. I brewed a couple batches here and there but it was pretty much kaput until after the second son reached about 4 years. My wonderful wife bought me a kegerator for my birthday. Sixels of the good stuff are expensive, so I bought me some cornies and started brewing again. Bottling was such a PITA, it was one of the reasons I couldn't find time to make it work with
I am not, by any means, a beer snob. I love good beer, but there are times when my taste buds call for a Natty Lite or a PBR. One of my great guilty pleasures is downing an ice cold Budmilloors in the shower after a hot summer's day of yardwork. Dammit, I've earned it.
I'm a Hokie football fan, sometime golfer, full time dad and husband, web monkey, writer, t-shirt designer, movie-quote mutant, cynic and brew guy.
