Stumbled on this sight a short while ago, just moved up to Indiana from Texas. I've been brewing for about 10 years with my brother, he worked at a brew store in high school. I've seen sights like this in the past, but this one seems to have a lot of members that are active and its well organized. Im looking forward to helping answer questions as well as learning some new tricks. Cheers.

Ok, that's weird... My dad lives just south of Cinci in Walton, Ky. and I've been needing to pay him a visit. Meanwhile SWMBO has relatives in Columbus that we'll be visiting next summer. (They came here this year)

That's where my sister settled down Haven't seen her in a while, it's about a twelve hour drive WITHOUT a toddler in the car, meaning about eighteen with. I promised her we'd make a trip out sometime this year, doubt it'll happen until maybe next spring.

In June, my wife and I drove from Raleigh up to northwest Ohio with a 3 year old and a 1 year old in the car. It sucked, even though we (which is to say "I") made the drive in the middle of the night while the kids sort-of slept.

It's actually worked best for us the other way around. When she's exhausted, like in the middle of the night, once she wakes up it's an absolute bear to get her back to sleep.

When we made the drive from MA to DC this spring, it worked well for us to start the drive fairly early in the morning (around 5:00 AM or so), but do most of it during the day. First of all, *I'm* in a better mood, since I hate driving at night. Second, my wife could sit back there and keep her somewhat occupied. The key was stopping every hour, hour and a half and letting her run around. What would be a seven hour drive for two people becomes about ten with her, but she was only really upset for a very short period of time, when we got stuck in traffic on the beltway. Otherwise, it was a combination of her being happy and dozing.

It's just a matter of being patient and factoring in an extra 50% or so of drive time. Ergo, the twelve hour trip to Columbus is either eighteen hours, or one place ride.

We did the drive last year when the baby was a little over 1. It's a 6 hour drive from here, and in all honesty he did pretty well. The nightmare began in the hotel room... I had to get drunk just to TRY to get some sleep... Kid was all over the place...

Flyin out to AZ next summer as well... That'll be a treat. He'll be 3 then tho so hopefully Air Marshals won't have to be involved... And no offense to those in Tejas, but I'm going to do everything in my power to avoid a plane change at DFW....

Thread-jack. Sorry Bigfoot! Welcome to the best boards on the net. :rockin:
