Appalachian Woodland Salamander, as identified by the Audobon Society Field Guide to North American Reptiles and Amphibians, 1987. This specimen was under a rotting hemlock log on the Chattooga River Trail about 1/4 mile north of Burrell's Ford in October 2009, the South Carolina side of the river.
