Hello all! I just completed my first batch of homebrew, it was a Pale Ale partial mash (I think that's the right term? used some grains, and 7# malt extract) that I'm drinking through right now. Hasn't aged too long in the bottles yet, maybe 2 weeks now, but it tastes pretty good for my first batch. But I have to say, I'm totally hooked. I am heading out here soon to get supplies for my second batch, and have already acquired a second 5 gallon carboy. I hope to learn *lots* here as I'm a complete rookie, but what a fun hobby!

I LOVE Anchorage, especially the drive from there to Kanai. Better than Fairbanks, what a boooooreeeee hooooooole LOL

Welcome!

Welcome!

I love it too! Such an amazing drive down to Kenai, very pretty. What brought you up to Alaska? Squarebanks I can do without, some decent beer up there, but not a lot to do. Anchorage, even though its a big city, I enjoy a lot more.

I was up there for work at one point. The WORST place I have been there is the NP. My god what a remote place. The Serward Highway is something. Forgive me if i'm spelling the names wrong LOL

After so many old books and movies of the yukon territory, I still find it amazing that there are cities up there. I've seen pics and it's amazing. My wife and I want to come up so bad, but we are so damned far away. Hard to believe, but we're closer to the Sahara desert (in Africa) than to most of Alaska.

So, anyway, welcome to HBT!

Welcome from South Florida, its warm down here but i'd honestly rather be where you are!!,talk about a great state to live in.

Yeah welcome I was assigned to Elmendorf afb for 4 years there in anchorage I'm starting to miss that place

Anchorage has a way of doing that to you, I've been up here going on 4 years now, I like it a lot more now than when I first got here. Beautiful. passedpawn, it's not terribly hard to get up here anymore! SWMBO flies down to Florida at least once a year to visit a friend of hers there, its doable! And definitely worth it.

Welcome TarantulaGuy and i suggest you never leave Alaska. :D
Joey - I was also stationed at Elmendorf. Brewed my first few batches in Alaska.

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on your first brew. I was born @ Elmendorf AFB in 69. I only lived there for a year.
