Hansen Valves, how do they work?

Hello, I have a couple ball lock corny kegs and am looking to get more. the most affordable ones I am finding are pin locks that are converted into ball locks. the one thing that concerns me are the valves. I am used to the poppet valves and want to know how the Hansen valves work and what your preference is.
