My wife and I decided to start home brewing beer last November with some wine and we shortly got into beers, meads and ciders real quick. We talked about how we could make the wine and beers more along the lines of making the brews from scratch.

This past spring we took our ideas into action. We picked some wisteria vine and fresh mint to make those wine from scratch as well as planted 5 types of rhizomes.

I purchased my rhizomes from Aroostook Hops up in Maine via the internet. The small family owned business was great to deal with and they wanted to make sure we were completely satisfied with our purchase.

I ordered Cascade, Centennial, Mount Hood, Nugget, and Willmette rhizomes. The 5 types of rhizomes arrived and they had a certificate of organic grown. I built 5 raised beds and planted them as instructed.

We did our best to avoid using any pesticides and herbacides but we had to spray some termite killer on the beds as one of the garden soil bags we purchased had termites in it. We weeded the beds to keep them clean.

I have added photos of them all in alphabetical order. Harvest is coming soon on the Cascades!
