Hello all,

I'm a 25 year old IT/Video Production geek. After being introduced to Craft Beer about 4 years ago by a co-worker (StubbornMan) I've been trying all different kinds of styles/brews/breweries. Stone's Ruination did a number on me and I'm a hop-head now, but love a balanced malty brew just as well. You can find me on BeerAdvocate and Untappd under the same username (I decline friend requests I'm not expecting -- so reply or pm me so I know to reciprocate).

I've been lurking for about 2 years now without an account (but joined a little over 2.5 months ago). I've been soaking up knowledge on the various brew processes for awhile now. I'm one of the lucky guys to have my SWMBO 100% behind me on the hobby, but with a low income and a new baby I've restricted my funds to do so. I'm comfortable enough with the process that I've decided to start with AG -- and plan to go with an Electric HERMS based on Kal's plans for my own set up. I'll probably pop my cherry on StubbornMan's setup if he'll allow it.

I've done my part for evangelizing craft/micro-brew. My wedding reception in April of 2010 had only Highland Mocha Stout (Pony), and Sweetwater 420(Half-BBL) served, and we floated both of them. My brother is also on board for me starting the home brewery. We own a DJ company that we've stopped putting effort into and are going to sell it off with the intent to put the money towards the hobby. He likes drinking good beer, and I know I'm going to love making it (and drinking it too).

Anyways, to all of HBT: Thanks for being awesome in imparting your knowledge and giving me great ideas - I hope to be putting them to use at the beginning of next year. Until then, plan on seeing me asking questions in the Beginners forum!

Build a cooler mash tun. I have a burner, 7.5 gal pot, 20 ft copper immersion chiller, and a fermenter for you to use. All you have to do is come get it and promise that when you go Electric HERMS you will give the gear to another newbie.

NOW BREW YOUR 1ST BATCH ALREADY!!!!1

:D

Deal.

When's your next available brew day for an apprenticeship? I could knock out the hands-on experience and the equipment pick up in the same trip :p

We can coordinate over PM/Facebook.
