Hello everybody!

After couple of days of reading this excellent forum, I thought it best to join and perhaps participate in the conversation. Since I'm almost complete newbie to brewing, I'm not sure how valuable input I will be giving, but we'll see.

My experience with home-made alcoholic drinks is restricted to a batch of cider we made with my roommate several years ago as a summer project. Guess you could call it cider even if it was only good at getting drunk. I'm looking forward not to repeat that batch :)

I'm mostly interested in cider making but I'm also going to get some mead coming if this summer goes as planned. I enjoy a good cider whenever I can get one, but it's a bit difficult here in Finland, where they want to sell the weirderst crap and call it cider. But that's why I'm here...

Terve Jari,

I'm a Finn-American who grew up in a part of MIchigan with a very large Finnish population. My great-grandparents were from Oulu!

I just started my first batch on Monday and have found this forum very helpful.

Happy brewing!

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome. The weather here is very summery, but it can't decide if it's rainy or shiny.

Mike, I had to check the wikipedia for the lutefish, had never heard it in English :) My mother is very exited about lipeäkala (especially in christmas time), but I could never stand it. Vile stuff :cross:
