Every time you take an opponents piece you have to (get to) drink it!

I love it!

I saw an oversized battleship board one time with shots on the ships.

That is excellent! I would have an issue with the sides though--one person gets to drink all the dark beers!

.... And if you take his queen or get checkmate you are apparently forced to drink the liquid that sanitizes haircombs.

See, here I thought that was blue-flavored Kool-aid...

Am I the only one who grew up with Kool-aid flavors that were colors instead of actual flavors? I assume purple was "grape flavored", and red was probably cherry or strawberry, but to me they just taste like their color...mmm red Kool-aid...

The color drink that never made sense was blue razzberry. Not raspberry, razzbery. What manner of sorcery was that.

Only possible objection I would have with the chessboard is what if you get beers that you really want to sip and savor? Doing shots of three philosophers or gulden drak would be a shame (not to mention it could kill your azs).

Tha's right. Competitors should fast the day before playing, and should be forced to move every three minutes, so they can't prolong the game unneccesarily. If you take a piece, you drink the beer. It's a self-correcting mechanism. If someone takes six pieces in fifteen minutes, guaranteed the other guy's going to have a chance to come back, provided he can hold his own liquor. And whoever falls out of his chair first, loses.

First person who says "I want to be on the light beer side, dark beers are so heavy" will be pelted with cocktail peanuts and raisins.

Oh how this takes me back to my nerdy party days, we used to play shot glass chess all the time. I have actually been looking a purchasing a good quality set. Each player got their choice of spirit in the pieces, when a piece was taken the owner drank the contents. It was a downward slope. I don't even we actually ever finished a game.

And now can't even make a complete sentence.

Shot glasses with the various pieces printed (or etched) on to them would be handy & a nice touch on an awesome game. You could even just use the 1st letter of the piece: Q=queen, K=knight, etc...
Paint or screen print the letters on & use different color paint/ink for each side, that way it doesn't matter what color the liquid in the glass is.
Regards, GF.
