Hi all!

Is there anyone on the forum from the St. Louis, MO area who has access to a grain mill that they would be willing to let me use? My brother-in-law graciously gave me several large 50-lb bags of unmilled grains. I am reticent to spend upwards of $100 on a new grain mill when I likely won't use it after I am through with these grains.

Thanks in advance!
Brent from St. Louis

You could buy a corona mill cheap like $30 cheap and then mill as you go. Milling all that now is not a good idea as gadjobtinus has said.

There is a whole thread about the corona mills.

What he said. ^^

"Several" is an indistinct numerator, but it implies more than two. If you have 3 or 4 bags, you have enough for up to 15, or so, brews, depending on your brewing preferences. Brewing twice a month, you could use the grain in less than a year, which is a reasonable shelf life for crushed grains, properly stored.

If you don't have a sufficient number of airtight containers on hand, buying those will make a decent down payment on a basic grain mill. Since you've already saved the cost of buying the grain, you have an opportunity to buy a mill with the savings.

Sounds like a win-win, but what do I know. ;)
