Got laid off today due to lack of work. On a bright side, new fermenter and extract kit comes in tommorow

Canada, apprentice carpenter. Went to college to become a firefighter, however FF jobs are so hard to get into, can't wait to get my chance

Sorry to hear brother. I'm a plumber. I feel us skilled trades are always kinda on the frontline of the economy. I don't think Ive had a 40hr week since March. I work for my dad's business of 20yrs and man, I miss the good ol days when we had more work than we knew what to do with. Always 2 weeks or more out and constantly turning people down.

That sucks man... hope you find something soon

my cousin's husband was let go today too in Vegas. He'd been with the place for 17 yrs.

and bam.

Will unemployment be enough to float you for a while? My girlfriend went on unemployment after she was laid off and it turned out being the best thing to ever happen to her. She wrapped up a bunch of college credits and will be graduating after this quarter from a UC.

Not saying go back to school, just that it might just be a kickstart to help you get going with your firefighter gig.

Awesome support guys, nice to hear some kind thoughts after a day like this! Ill be able to support myself for awhile im a good saver - Can always find some side projects. If theres a will, theres a way

That sucks.

My wife got laid off last year after 23 years. It really threw her for a loop, but she ended up with an even better job a few months down the road. It's not the end, just a new start. Good luck.

That certainly does suck.

I keep hearing how good the economy is doing, but I'm not seeing it.

I know we've been hanging onto the people we have left, but it's been on the jagged edge for a long time.

Yep, I keep seeing reports of lowering unemployment rates, then a month later they post a revised number that is not nearly as good.

Then you read the news and see a new business or one that is expanding, turn the page and find a story of a 100 year old business that is closing or laying off half it's workforce.

I would say that the economy has improved since it hit rock bottom but as far as I can tell most of the world is still in recession.

OP - good luck with your endeavors. I hope that you end up with something that is exactly what you want. And take a bit of the down to enjoy your new equipment/supplies.

I feel you pain bro, i spent 2 yrs on unemployment. finally had to except a job as a deli clerk and take a 60% payroll cut just to put food on the table. Keep the faith something good will come your way.
