Good system? need help

Hey guys,

I'm new to this whole kegging thing and yesterday and took the first step and bought a "system". I don't know if i got screwed but i think i need to do some modifications. So i need your opinion on what to do first!

So i got this thing from a bar that was closing down. it has a tower with 4 spouts, all the lines (dirty!) with couplers, 4 regulators, some system called flowjet, an air compressor and a fan to cool the lines. i got it for 260$ CAN (good deal?). The thing is i just read on the internet that compressed air is not good for kegging. so do the regulators i have work with co2? would i just need to get a co2 tank?
also, should i replace the beer lines since they still have beer in them?

i'm also wondering if this system is any good or if i should try to resell it and get something better.

Wow...Well, if they were using compressed air to dispense the beer, that explains why they went out of business.

The tower, taps, and regulators (Draught Technologies) look good. You'll just need to purchase the fitting to connect the first regulator body to a co2 tank. And, it appears you got an inline air dryer since they were using compressed air.

Yes compressed air would foul beer in a day or two. You got a nice tower, nice regulator setup, but you need to find out of the regulators are set up for full pressure from a tank or they may be secondaries, where your tank has a primary regulator set at ~100psi and the secondaries deliver your ~12 psi to each keg. If you don't need the air compressor for anything you should be able to sell it for enough $ to buy a co2 tank and hose or regulator. The blower fan is useful for cooling that tower, and the flojet pump was probably used to pump glycol or other coolant through the tower to keep the lines cool.
Is there no refrigerator box with this setup? If not what's your plan?

well i'm happy to hear that its not a bad setup. for the regulators, how do i find out if they are set up for full pressure from a tank or if they are secondaries?

The setup didn't come with a fridge since the bar had their kegs in a walk in fridge which is a little too large for my house.lol since i'm not going to have more than 2 types of beers for now, i'll just get a small used danby fridge that can hold 2 corny kegs. when i increase my beer production i'll have to get a bigger fridge.

so what about the beer lines, they are pretty dirty so should i get new ones or can i just run boiling hot water to clean them out?

To clean the lines, just run a mixture of BLC (brewery line cleaner) through them using a spare corny keg. Use warm water from the tap and it should do the trick.
