Hello folks,

My name is Shawn, a Nurse from Yellowknife, NT. Like others here, my experience with home brewing started along time ago, in the late 1980's....life got busy..priorities.. and now I have more time to pursue the "Art of Brewing". I am excited and eager to graduate up to the next level, grain brewing. I've been reading and studying the process for the last three months and am excited about pursuing my beer dreams:)

I have yet to purchase a pot system...and it would seem Canadian retailers are difficult to find that actually stock quality brewing equipment. I was looking at either the Blickmann G3 2 pot system or something similar to Spike's HERMS 3 pot system. It seems there are many other brewing equipment manufacturers out there as well..was hoping to find a Cdn company and some suggestions from Cdn craft brewers for same. Any input, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Shawn

Hello Shawn, and welcome! I'm sure you'll find lots has changed since you first started brewing those many years ago. HBT is a great place to go and get information. It may not always be the best, or most accurate, but it'll certainly be from folks who share the same passion for homebrewing as do you. In regard to your questions, if you're getting started again, and I'm assuming (yes, I know...:)) All grain (AG,) have a look at the different options (3 Vessel, Brew In A Bag (BIAB), Grainfather, etc.) There are many from which to chose, and all will produce excellent beer. I went from extract to AG-BIAB (propane,) then EBIAB (Electric), and now I have a Grainfather, mostly for the ease and convenience. If you don't have a local brew shop, I'm sure there are many online Canadian retailers that can help. Again, welcome to HBT! Ed
