Going to Ohio

One of my gifts from my wife was a plane ticket to Columbus OH and i leave friday. What are some good bars to go to while there? I think i have the breweries covered but bars i have no idea. He might i suppose but being in the ortho college i dont think he has much time for the bar scene.

Suggestions welcomed!

Look up "The Winking Lizard". There are several in the Columbus area. They don't brew beer, but they have about 40 good microbrews on tap and about 200-300 bottled micros and craftbrews available. I can't wait till they expand to Cincy so I can go there every single day!! BTW the food is absolutely excellent also!

Barley's (both of them) are good places to go to. There's a BJ's on the north side at Polaris. There's also the Columbus Brewing Company, Elevator Brewery & Draught and Gordon Biersch (in the Arena District).

The Columbus Brewing Company is a Cameron Mitchell restaurant (the guy has cornered the market on fancy restaurants in Columbus). It's way overpriced, they serve foo-foo food, and the beer isn't anything spectacular at all.

I've never been to Elevator, but I've heard good things about it.

I've been to Barley's Ale House only once, but I was impressed with their selection and the quality of their beers seemed to be very good.

GB is just like every other GB 'brewpub' across the country - the same goes for BJ's. I'd be surprised if they actually brew anything there.

As for bars, it depends what part of town you're going to be in. I don't get out to bars much anymore, and I get to bars in Columbus even less.

She loves me alot what with the organization between her parents and mine to get me the 14.5 SS blichmann conical that i got and a foodsaver for christmas. My brother is my best friend and he graduated with a DDS degree in june of this year and i have not seen him for about 3 months sinced he moved out there.

If it had been a one way ticket i might think yeah, she doesnt like me, but i checked twice, it is a round trip ticket.

Besides her sister is back in town from WV for the holiday so she her best friend to hang out with over the new year, well her and our daughter.


Brewtus, yeah he is in college still getting his ortho degree, but has a kid and is married so he dosent get out to the bars much there.

My wife? yeah but BMC. She graciously tries all of my brews but thinks they all have to much flavor...............................


She likes a wheat beer i make and a Kolsch but beyond that she has never had a full pint. Thats ok, more for me!
