I just bought a GFCI outlet and switch and an outdoor electrical box to wire them in, for powering my pump. I will have an extension cord out of the electrical box going to a standard outlet in the garage. My question is, will the GFCI outlet on my brew stand be sufficient, or should I replace the standard outlet in the garage with GFCI also?

You'd be better off replacing the outlet in the garage with the GFCI. It will protect everything downstream, so as long as you will always use that outlet you can simply re-purpose that existing outlet onto your rig.
If you might brew someplace else then you'd be better keeping the GFCI on your rig.

Hey that's not a bad idea! I'll replace the standard one in the garage with GFCI I already bought and use the standard outlet on my rig. The rig isn't going anywhere, so it'll always be that outlet.
Thanks John.
