I was given a couple carboys that at one time was a fruit fly hotel. Is there an easy way to clean the pupae off the sides?

something caustic should take care of that. and a carboy brush. warm water to help the caustic work faster. pbw or something like that should do the trick

Warm water is important. Never hit cold glass with hot water. The glass could fracture immediately or the stress will cause it to fracture later when it's full of beer or wine.
