Hey everyone.

From what I see, beer freezing isn't bad for the beer. I have recently made a beer which is pretty dark with a pretty high abv.

I was wondering if freezing a bottle of beer while aging another at 45-55°F would allow me to taste the differences due to aging in 6-12 months.

Anyone see a problem with this idea?

I think it will allow you to compare the difference between aging and freezing, but i think it's a bad assumption that freezing and thawing (then re-carbonating) will have no effect on the taste of your beer.

That makes sense. I don't know that I could recognize any difference in the flavor after not having it for a year. Maybe I should freeze and thaw a beer after about a week and see how similar it tastes to the original... if it comes out tasting pretty much the same after being frozen a week, extended freezing shouldn't make a difference, right?

I've had bottles that I was impatient to cool, so I tossed them in the freezer. Some of them will freeze solid and break the bottle.

I think it's a bad idea...

Yeah expanding liquid in a bottle is not a good thing! I have left a few in the garage and they always break if they freeze
