I was nervous I did something wrong, I was nervouse when fermentation didn't start soon enough, I was nervous I was going to mess up bottling, etc.

The beer was a English IPA from my LHBS. I remember the first one I opened that had hiss of cabonation and was even more excited when I smelled it and it didn't reak of infection and then even more excited when I tasted and I had actually made beer!

Now I can chuckle at how nervous I was that I was going to screw up and when I think I have done something wrong with subsequent batches I can remember to RDWHAHB.

Cheers

I just found a couple bottles in the fridge from an Altbier I did over a year ago, my first 5 gallon batch. I hated that beer, it turned out too hoppy, fermented to warm and was all estery...now, it has mellowed and is almost good. Time heals all things..

I had the same thing happen to me. It wasn't my first but my second. I thought I devised my own recipe. It did not come out good at all, so sad to say I dumped it. Well over a year later I found a six pack (well 5 pack) that I had given my dad that he didn't care for either. He held on to it for some reason. I scammed one and it was great! I hatred myself for dumping that batch. Now I try to age everything for as long as I can. Regardless, nothing gets dumped now.
