I'm ashamed to say that I never made time to rack my mead. It has been 2 years and I’m wondering what to do. Some Raisins floating on top with sediment below. It’s been covered and it has always had water in the trap. Should I toss it or is it salvageable? I also made a cider at the same time and is in the same situation. Both look clear and in 1 gallon containers.
thanks
Joe

I forgot about my JAOM for 6 years, at least at one point I did put a airtight seal on. To be honest I can’t remember if it was before the airlock went completely dry. But when I got back into brewing a couple months ago, I finally got around to racking it. It tastes fine to me.

If you've kept the airlock in good shape and it fermented well then you should be able to do a taste test and see whether you think it's worth bottling.

Based on the description, I am thinking this was your primary fermentation? Taste it. It’s not best practice to leave it on the lees, but if you do not have mold on the raisins, and it tastes as expected. It should be fine. BTW, using yeast nutrient is better than raisins, if you decide to make more.
