I just upgraded to four Perlick 525pc's. I noticed that when I close the faucets they tend to drip for a few minutes. some are worse than others.
Is this normal? the other faucets I had did maybe 1 or 2 drops when I closed them. may be I'm analyzing this to much and need to have another home brew.

The other problem is after I put the new faucets on and letting the kegs sit for over 24hrs, I am getting mostly foam now where before i barely got any.
I am running 12psi would dropping it to 10psi help change this.

Thanks for the help and your time

I'm going to assume that the 525pc uses the same design as its stainless steel brethren of which I have six, and say that the faucet dripping thing isn't normal at all. I get like three drips total when I close a faucet, with the third one actually hanging on the edge of the spout where it will almost always remain, so I knick it with my bar towel.

Given the only thing that keeps these faucets closed is the pressure of the beer behind the ball valve, I'd be concerned that one day you're going to find a huge beer puddle. It might be worth taking the worst one apart, hit all of the O-rings with some keg lube, then reassemble it to see if it behaves itself.

As for the foamy pours, these faucets have very little restriction (if you take one apart you'll see why - there's hardly anything in them!) so it's possible if your previous faucets were spring-loaded rear sealers that you're seeing an effect of reduced restriction. If dropping the serving pressure a couple of PSI alleviates the foam, I'd attribute that to the faucet design...

I was thinking of getting 2 of these also so if anyone has some can they chime in and let us know how they work. sorry for thread jacking

I love my (SS) Pearls, they're dead simple faucets and mine have been well behaved. I believe the chrome plated brass versions (PC) should perform equally well.

That said, they do have one potential issue that I've read about here: if your faucets are mounted on movable surface (eg: keezer lid tower) and you put some long or heavy tap handles on them, you have to be careful about that moment arm opening the faucet, because there's no spring that's going to keep them closed.

Fortunately I've never had aspirations to install fancy tap handles - my rig is all about function over decor, and I use standard black plastic faucet handles. So even with all the opening and closing of my keezer lid I've never had a faucet pop open...

Cheers!

I run 3 of the chrome perlicks and haven't had any problems at all. I'm going to buy a fourth soon to add another keg to my set up.

thanks that is what i wanted to hear ss are so much more $$ and im broke

I've only been using them for a couple of months, so can't speak to the longevity, but have been more than happy so far.

I bought the faucets and shanks from ritebrew.com. Faucets were $17.49/each.

I'll be picking up a fourth this weekend to get the kegerator ready for a New Year's Eve bash!

I tightened up the Compression Bonnet and it has seemed to stop 90% of my dripping issue. (I think I can fine tune them to get them to stop.)

I dropped my serving psi to 10 and reduced the foam by half. so tonight I will try it at 8 or 9 psi to see what I get.

+1 for the ritebrew.com that's where I got mine from. I couldn't justify spending 35$ on a single SS faucet when I can buy two for the same price in chrome, and spend the extra coin I saved on a new batch of brew.
