So I have a really really healthy fermentation going on right now.

The foam has gone through the air lock.

Is there any risk here of contamination?

2nd should I replace the air lock with a sanitized one after the fermentation settles down? Is there any need to replace the stopper?

Thanks Guys

You want to rig a blow off tube...ASAP.

There is always risk of contamination but since air is clearly being forced out of the fermenter, little air can get into it! You will be fine, as long as the stopper only touches the sterile wort and fermentation products there is no need to replace it!

Correct! If you use a sanatizer like starsan, you can ad a few drops to the water to make sure it stays sanitary. Once the blowoff has died down you can replace it with a sanatized airlock!

is it possible to rig a blow off tube on bucket fermenters? would i just fit a barbed nipple onto my tube and stuff it in the grommet?

Yessir!

That was originally my bottling hose. I put a slit in it, heated it in boiling water and slipped it on.

One thing that I do to all my airlocks is saw or break off the little criss/cross of plastic on the bottom of them.
