They last far longer than that. I suppose if you get crappy seals sure. But mine last probably a dozen of more Brews. I change mine out once a year.

they last as long as they last. just check to make sure they aren't totally squished out or splitting when sanitizing.

I have a rather extensive fliptop collection. I find that storing the bottles empty to Not leave them "capped".

I remove them all and inspect them either they are spongy/flexible or they are aged and will get cracks. the old/bad ones get tossed. Direct sunlight will hyper age the seals.

i leave them capped because last time i had mold in them, but that is beacuse i didnt rinse them out after using them. will uncapp all my bottles and rinse them out. thanks!! another thing to do on jan 1 st lol

Agreed... as long as they are not damaged, torn, moldy, or something else that would raise questions, I switch them out maybe once a year. Some compression will remain but it shouldn't bother the end result. Once empty I leave them open so the ring itself is not compressed. Another thing I do is usually flip the ring so the opposite side is down during the next bottling phase, etc. Necessary? Don't know... peace of mind. I love the swing tops.
