I've got a wheat ale in primary right now. I told the LHBS that I wanted to do a blueberry wheat (request from SWMBO) and he gave me a wheat ale kit and some blueberry extract/flavoring that gets mixed in just before bottling.

Now that I'm approaching a week in primary, I can't decide which way to go:

--Leave it in primary for another couple weeks and add the extract at bottling time.
--Say screw the extract, go by some real blueberries and rack into secondary with those for a week or so.

What do you guys think? Has anyone done secondary with real blueberries? Did they put off enough flavor? And if I do go with real blueberries, how much do I need?

well im only on my 2nd back of beer brewing now but my frist batch i used raspberrys .. i used 1.5lbs of raspberry puree and 2lb frozen and all i can say is it is super strong in raspbeer.... so if u went with 2-3 pounds of frozen blueberrys u would probly have plenty of flavor...

ive never used extract before but i woudl say go with the real stuff.. and if the flavor is not up to were u want it to be then throw a tad of the extract in after

Ya, that is a good point...I can always taste test and add more extract if the real fruit doesn't quite bring me where I want to be.
