I am getting ready to bottle my 2nd batch. My first batch was a Nut Brown Ale kit. It was in the ferminter for 2 weeks and sat in the bottle for 2 weeks before I tasted. Tastes good but a little on the flat side and not great head. For priming I used 2/3 cup corn sugar dissolved. The batch I am getting ready to bottle is a Porter recipe and has been in the ferminter for 2 weeks. any idea how to increase carbination?

This is the best calculator I have found for calculating priming sugar by style and type of sugar used. TastyBrew.com | Homebrewing Calculators | Botting Priming Calculator

In my most humble opinion, the best way to increase carbonation while using the proper amount of priming sugar is to wait. I found the most complete, full carbonation that created the best head bottle conditioned for four weeks minimum; much depends on conditioning temp as well as style.

Enjoy -

the Weeb is right. 2 weeks isn't long enough for the beer to carb and condition. 3 weeks is the general rule for most beers, but i've found that 4-5 weeks (at 68ish, my house temp) is how long it takes to condition. i also fridge the beer for 4 or more days after it's conditioned to allow the co2 to dissolve into solution. that really helps give the beer a deep carbonation and better head retention.

I made an everyday IPA - my first attempt at beer, from the Brooklyn Brewery kit. I let it ferment for 2 weeks, bottled it, and let it sit another 2 weeks. Then I put it in the fridge for a few more days, and when I cracked one, I got the same results...flat beer. I took a few out and let it sit on the counter for a few more days, and opened one...still flat. I dumped the rest of the beers I had on the counter, and left the rest in the fridge. I just finished a batch of Bass clone and ran short of bottles, so I opened the bottles of the IPA to use for the Bass, and when I opened it, the IPA was great. Had a nice head and carbonation. I guess you just have to wait a bit longer.
