I have been eating mostly vegan for the last six weeks. Just doing it for health reasons and it has been really great actually. I feel great and have been steadily losing about 2-3 pounds per week (which is good because I need to lose some weight). Today I went home for lunch and had absolutely nothing to eat. Figured, what the heck? So I went to Five Guys and had a "Little" hamburger, regular fries and a water.

Good idea?

NOPE. BIG MISTAKE.

Almost immediately after eating that my face got hot and flush, my heart started pounding in my chest, broke out in a sweat even though it's 40 degrees outside, and my stomach felt like I had dropped six pounds of ball bearings inside. About 20 minutes later, and for the subsequent hour, I had to make multiple trips dropping the browns off at the super bowl. I still feel really sluggish and sick and sleepy. This is by far the worst I have felt after eating. EVER.

no kidding. i used to eat at five guys all the time. and i used to get their normal hamburgers which have twice the burger part. never phased me before...

Did you ever hear the guys on Survivor after they won a challenge that had a full spread of food? They would eat like pigs but the next day, it would be passing through them.

I pretty much feel the same when I leave Five Guys and I'm not on a vegan diet, to say the least. But I always go back. I guess it's the same as being really hung over...you know that eventually, you will drink beer again.

Did you gain any special powers by eating vegan :D ( Scott Pilgrim reference )

Something about how, when your body isn't using the enzymes it uses to digest meat, it stops producing them. Throw some meat in there, and all hell breaks loose.

That's a tremendous amount of fat & protein after eating relatively low levels in the prior weeks. I would guess that those burger have to be close to ~50g of fat.

mm makes me want to run out and grab one right now :)

Not to mention the sodium content. The fries alone have a ridiculous amount of salt.

I've had five guys once. I felt like hell for a day and a half.

I've been vegetarian my whole life. I bet a burger would kill me. Seriously though, your stomach produces enzymes according to what you are making it digest. The gas most people associate with eating beans will go away if you eat them frequently and your stomach can actually digest them.

LoL..dude, i just face pounded, Two bacon cheese burgers (2 patties each)
in 15 mins+ regular fries.

Nice. They should give you a punch card. Buy this many burgers, and the next time you need to have cancerous polyps burned out of your colon it's on us.

I've had it a few times, never an issue. Certain foods affect certain people different ways.

For this reason I do not eat buffalo ANYTHING anymore. Man do i like it though...Just don't feel like spending the next day on the crapper.

I can't eat at Mexican resturants at all... Dunno what it is, love it at home, but eating it out and I'm sick for 3 days

I love a big bacon and cheddar burger, but its definitely what Cookie Monster calls a "sometimes food."

SWMBO doesn't have a gall-bladder -- so we aren't allowed to go here. It is greasy. But thats what I love :(

lesson learned.

actually i think there is something to those who pointed out that the body adjusts to what it is fed. Germans are notoriously good at digesting lactose, yet I have a German friend who, after being a vegan for 6 months, ate cheese and immediately started having problems. Turns out she became lactose intolerant during that time just by not consuming dairy products.

I saw a documentary that said humans in general are just lactose intolerant, its basically an evolved trait in a smaller percentage of the population that can consume dairy in bigger quantities. I am not that evolved in the methods of dairy processing lol

My Gf and I tried 5 guys twice, since it opened in our neighborhood. And both times both of us had the runs. No other burgers have every affected me like that.

Something about those burgers. We thought the first time it was something else, the flu or something, so we gave them another shot. Not going there again.

I see this as a Five Guys advertisement.

But really, I have Vegan friends that will get sick from stuff like that, one got sick beef broth in a vegetable soup.

I LOVE five guys burgers. double patty, cheese bacon, sauteed mushrooms and oinions and A-1 steak sauce. Then a sprite to help settle the stomach and a nice nap. Can't do it too often though, that will kill ya.

Two words - MEAT TORNADO

Q: What do you call a vegetarian with diarrhea?
A: A salad shooter.
