First year hops

These are my new babies!! How heavy will they be in the first year? I don't want to put anything permanent up just yet, but I want to give them the support they need!!

My first year hops only grew to 7 feet tall and produced no cones. I put them into the ground in June so only got about 4 months of growth. The montana growing season is a little shorter than southern states but i have heard that first year hops can produce some cones. I only used nylon string to hold my hops and it held fine.

Second pic is a weed , I let mine grow on the ground 1st year...they where healthy and came back super strong this year... Sometimes the best thing to do is do nothing

Aren't hops weeds? I just might toss it in the boil anyway! Kidding

Ha I swore I picked my hops when I weeded the first time! It took me a while to be able to id these guys
