Hey guys, awesome forum you have going on here.

First off we are starting our first batch ever and we thought we'd just go with a custom formula for our first beer instead of using a kit (mainly because it is cheaper and it is kind of cool to say our first beer was our own creation despite how it turns out.)

I just wanted some experienced brewers to check this recipe and tell me what you think it will turn out like? Will it be bad or good? What type of beer would it be classified as?

The 5 gallon recipe:
Hops
1 oz Mt Hood (bittering hops) - 60 min
1 oz Willamette (Aroma) - Haven't figured out our time for aroma hops
Yeast
Burton Yeast (1 vial)
Malt
Copper Amber Malt 3.3 lbs.
Additional Ingredients
2 Cinnamon sticks - 5 min boil and add to primary
1 oz Vanilla Extract - add to bottling bucket
Priming Sugar (Corn) 1/2 cup

Any suggestions or general critiquing is welcome. Should something be removed? More of something be added?

Thank you in advance and thanks for all the awesome information for new brewers.

Is that for a 5 gallon batch? You'll want more than just 3.3 lbs of malt if it is.

Yes it will be 5 gallons and I added that to the original post. Should I add more amber malt, or is it better to mix it with some others? and should I add another 3.3 lbs or less?

id add at least another 3.3lbs (will put you around 4.7% ABV). id swap the amber extract out for pale/light/golden extract and steep some grains instead to give it more flavor tho. what to steep, depends on what style you're kinda going for.

aroma hops should be added at the end of the boil
