This is the first dry hop that I have attempted

I have 1 oz Amarillo pellets, 1 oz Ahtanum pellets, and 2 oz Simcoe whole leaf hops. I put all hops in the 5 gallon carboy and racked on top of it. The whole leaf hops are floating on top of the beer.

My question is should I do anything to submerge the hops or will they sink by themselves? I just feel like so much is surface area of the hops is not in contact with the beer not sure what to do?

They should soon be wet with the beer, unless they are just in a big pile in the fermenter. It takes a while, but soon the bottom hops absorb the beer, then the next ones, etc. Unless you have some totally dry on top, I wouldn't do anything.

i have nothing to add other than i just dry hopped a beer with 4oz of hops myself and it is damn good. enjoy!

I just dry-hopped an IIPA with 2 oz fresh Citra hops. The pellet ops will sink and the whole hops will stay on top. I like to bottle 7-10 days after dry hopping in order to capture the hop flavor/aroma. Even though the whole hops wont sink, the hop oils and aroma will permeate throughout the beer.
