Hi im a week into my first beer home brew and ive just tested the OG level which is 1.025. Its been in the primary for a week now and temperature is kept at 18c.

Question is, am i on the right track and when do you advise to take another sample reading?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the world of brewing! Most people usually let primary fermentation go for two weeks, sometimes more. I would let it go for another week and then check the gravity 3 days in a row. If it is the same all three days, there's your FG. Happy Brewing! :mug:

Thanks for the response, just checking i was on right track.

Congrats on the first batch. It's an awesome hobby.

Yea, let it go for at least 2 weeks and check a couple times again. I'd let it sit for another 2-4 days after you reach your fg too. The yeast will clean things up from fermentation and you'll have a better beer, imo.
What did you brew for your first one?

For my first attempt I've just gone for a Youngs beer starter kit so i get to know the basics.

that's a good way to go. I got an extract kit with specialty grains for my first beer. Good luck man, hope it turns out!

Being @ 1.025, it'll take at least another week to get down to FG, or close to it. Check it then & wait till the 3rd day to check it again. If the numbers match, it's done. I usually give it 3-7 days to clean up any by-products of fermentation & settle out clear or slightly misty before packaging.
