Which yeast did you choose? I haven't ordered from NB in forever, but I seem to remember the kits do not automatically include a particular yeast strain.

I went with the Wyeast 3068 (the weihenstephan) after some searching here on the forum. The smack pack is swollen, so everything looks in good order.
