I just opened the first bottle of my first home-brew beer. It's an Irish Stout from a kit/recepie from Annapolis Homebrew Supply. I made several noob mistakes along the way, mistakes I know about and others I'll likely grow to understand later. Brewed on June 5th, 11 days in primary, 8 in secondary then bottled on June 24th. So I could have let it spend more time in each step. And it's only been conditioning for two weeks - those that survive the slow attrition (bottle every couple of days) will surely improve with time. I plan to move a few bottles to the 'fridge each week - mostly so I have a homebrew to drink while I relax, brew my next batch, and give worry a holiday. But all in all, I'm very satisfied! I lurk here a lot and have learned a ton from all of you - thanks!

Congrats!

I just popped open my very 1st home brew last night, only been in the bottle one week. Very well carb'd already and tasted great.

Enjoys the fruits of your labor!

Yuppers, I'll bet that MOST homebrewers remember the "hisssss" upon opening that very first bottle of homebrew! I sure do, and I've enjoyed that same "hisssss" on each successive brew. It IS an addiction! Enjoy it!

A good stout only gets better with more time in the bottle so that beer should only get better each time you open one.

YES! Congratulations and welcome to the obsession! Looks a lot better than my first homebrew (sans-head)... but then again I didn't have HBT.

Keep it up, brew to your hearts desire and be sure to tell us your stories and add your own input. :mug:

Welcome to the fold, and enjoy! The satisfaction of brewing something damn tasty with your own hands...that's the icing on the cake.
