My first batch of Ale is near completion now and I have noticed in the bottles a lot of sediment.

Is this normal, I really don't fancy getting a mouthful of it that's for sure?

Is there a strainer I can use to help minimize the sediment in the bottles?

What other ways methods can I use that can minimise sediment.

That's mainly just yeast falling toward the bottom when you bottle condition your beers. When I pour a beer from a bottle, I pour carefully and try to leave about a quarter inch left in the bottle with the yeast sediment. Nothing to worry about, enjoy!:mug:

You are supposed to have sediment. When you bottle, you have yeast in suspension. That yeast eats the sugar you add at bottling time and makes carbonation. If you filtered out all the yeast before bottling, you wouldn't have any to carbonate your beer!!! Flat ale is not good!

The sediment is totally normal, and you don't want to minimize it, because that's what gives your beer carbonation. Just do as advised above and pour off each bottle into a glass before drinking, and leave the last oz or so of beer in the bottle.

Also, note that most everyone recommends drinking beer from a glass only. Half of taste is in your sense of smell, and if you can't smell those lovely beer aromas, you won't be able to enjoy it as much!
