Hey fellow brewers. I am about half way through my first all grain batch, and although it takes a bit longer, I find the process so peaceful. I think I am hooked. I missed my mash in by a couple of degrees I hope that doesn't hurt me too bad.

Welcome, and we all mess up a time or two on the journey. I have too many brews to count under my belt. But, just today, while brewing a pale ale, I dropped the wrong hops in that I had pre-measured out for recipe. Re worked the recipe on the fly. Will be a different beast all together and now it's an IPA.

A couple of degrees will make some difference, but.... It will be just slightly different than intended. I find that my mash will lose a few of degrees so I start just a bit high and usually end a bit low. Guess what? It is a beer and usually it is very good to great. Is it exactly what the recipe intended? I have no clue.. but 2 1/2 years in I have made a lot of good beers and a few that I call great ones.

I prefer all grain so I know what is going into my recipe. I am formulating my own recipes and love working on getting good results from my experimentation. Good so far.....

Get another one in the works soon. You don't want to run short...

Well...I hit my 1.058 target right on the nose, so I am feeling pretty good right now. Thanks for the words of encouragement all!
