So after a few batches of extract kit brewing, I decided that AG was what I wanted to do. I met up with a guy that ran through a batch of AG with me Sunday. He's been doing it for a couple of years and says that he has only messed up one batch. After watching him for one brew session, I was ready to try it on my own. Got my grains, hops and yeast from my LHBS on Monday. Spent Tuesday with SWMBO. Got up Wednesday morning, got the kids off to school, went to Lowe's for that last piece of copper I needed. Started brewing and it all went far too easy. Came home from work this morning and the primary is bubbling away. So far so good. I'll see how it turns it and let you all know. Thanks to my new friend and all of you here, I took the plunge and was relaxed and enjoyed the day. I was by myself but had no problems at all. By the way, the recipe was a hybrid american wheat that I named Blue Vein Throbber!! The guy that milled the grain laughed his butt off when he asked me what I called the recipe.

Congratulations. See, all that fretting for nothing. AG really isn't some nebulous beast, in fact; I think it is easier than extract...

I agree with bach; i too, fretted about going to ag with my first batch about 9 years ago. I found that there was nothing to worry about, except that I didn't see how much grain would fit into my tun before I started the batch, so I got terrible efficiency. But, the beer tasted great.
