Glad to hear you got it back Ed!

Maybe you should make those kids come over and help you brew (read: clean your equipment), since you didn't press charges. Teach them a little respect for all the hard work you put into your beer, and your junk. Who knows, maybe they'll like it. They're harmless now that you know who they are.

Congrats Ed! (Although I was quietly looking forward to seeing the replacement built.)

I say get Yoop out there in her Brew Mistress outfit and give them punks a few lashes with her "beer line" cat-o-nine tails.... with the fittings and clamps still on the end of the beer lines!

Glad you got your stuff back Ed. It's great to see your community mobilized, found a solution and got a good end result.

Hopefully the thieves will do something to make good on their theft. It would be awesome if you got some sort of restitution, but all in all, I'm glad to see you got your stuff back!

I mean really, no questions asked. I thought Texas had a fast checkout lane for the electric chair; i mean at least a good flogging is in order for that kid. On second thought your right no questions just a good old beat down. You know by the look of it just copy this thread and put it in his parents mail box. Theres not a state in the country he can go to that a beer brewer wont want to kick his @$$. LoL i hope he plans on going to college in Europe!

You really have that much hate for a young kid making a bad decision that was rectified?

I still think you need to press charges. Them getting away with stuff like this is rediculous!

Them "lil Bastards should have to clean and delable bottles for you until they are old enough to run for president.

Damn straight! I think they need SOME form of punishment. And doing something like that can help them learn a valuable skill (brewing) and give them some face-time with a much-needed mentor.

And free labor is a good thing to have around.

HUGS to you EdWort! I'm so glad your baby's been returned.

:mug:

That's awesome, Ed. Makes you wonder what the hell the kids were going to do with it, once they finished drinking it dry?

I can see the posts from MakinItGood2 now... "so, uh... we've got this big freezer with these faucets, how do we refill it?"

I'll admit...I did some dumb @ss things as a "youth", but WTF did those kids think they were going to do with a chest freezer?

Glad to here she's back Ed.

Maybe you turn those kids into your brew slaves for a few months so they appreciate the hard work we put in to our hobby. :D

Awesome news that you got it back but I gotta jump in with the folks still calling for a beat-down. I just think there's a difference between kids doing some stupid things and kids making a very deliberate decision to hook up a trailer with what is obviously some valuable stuff, drive away with it and then stash it at a buddy's place in a difference neighborhood.

People like that, who just think they can pull crap like that with no regard at all for the people who actually own it deserve a beating until they get it into their thick skulls that they should have some respect for others.

See, I'm not convinced that "no questions asked" is necessarily equal to "no punches thrown" or "no asses kicked." I think you need to leave your options open here!

+1 For the good guys!!!!!! I'm really glad to heat that you got your setup back!

As far as punishment goes, either having them wash bottles or they can trend to your hop fields. Oh what you don't have hop fields? I think you should after this! :shifty

It wasn't the kids pictured in the background of the picture you posted was it? I only asked because that was my first thought when I read the thread the other day. Yeah, that's me, blaming guilt by proximity.

I'm really glad that you got your stuff back. :mug:

I really like this idea... Think of it as "community service".

Glad to hear you got it back, Ed! Now fill 'er up and get back to work on that brewhaus... :D

I still don't have the whole story yet as I just arrived in Napa yesterday for a week of work meetings. My brew buddy will bring me up to date when I get home. He's 6'10" 310 lbs, so when he was standing there, filling the door frame, asking for it back, I guess they saw a way out. I'm also pretty sure the kids were not thinking of a felony when they took it, but I'm going to make sure they understand how big a bullet they dodged.

I'm concerned about my 20# CO2 tank with the regulator attached. I'm pretty sure it is trashed from the transporting as it was loose in the trailer. I'll know this weekend.

I am so stoked though. I was already compiling the list of parts to build something else for my neighborhood Oktoberfest coming up in 6 weeks. I have 8 kegs for that party and now I can use the system again, but it will be hauled home immediately after the party.

I've never been more excited about cleaning beer lines before. :D

Of course, your friend said no questions asked about getting the trailer back - he never told them you wouldn't press charges for the keezer ;) Excellent news, Ed!

told them he just wanted the stuff back, no questions (saved them a felony conviction, if not an asskicking). Turns out the kid gets on the phone to his buddy in another neighborhood who had it and they brought it back.

And now is the moment when you call them and apologize for lying about not calling the police...

If you don' jack them up hard and early, they'll be at this again. Next time it might be your car or your back door smashed in...
