Excited about my first brew, an Irish Red from AHS. Transferred to the secondary today all went well with the OG and FG! Beer smelled and tasted good, going to bottle in about a week. Thinking about getting my next beer started next week also an IPA also from AHS!

I now see why this is an addictive hobby/way of life for everyone!

congrats. be sure to keep track of how many more brews you do before you get rid of the secondary altogether and do a 3-4 week primary. you won't regret it.

Congratulations...waiting for your first beer to finish is like a proud father waiting for his child to be born! As a new brewer, I would read John Palmers online book: http://www.howtobrew.com/sitemap.html in particular read the fermentation section...a lot of beer kits recommend 2 weeks primary 1 week seconday...but for those of us who have been brewing understand the importance of leaving the beer in the primary for 3 weeks then keg/bottle with no secondary....however there are times you will need a secondary, such as with fruit beers or beers that require conditioning over an extended period.
Happy Brewing!

I remember my 1st one. My wife poured her glass, looked at me with a big smile & those love lights on high beam. What more could any mortal man desire or deserve? Congrats,& be patient-a home brewer's best single piece of advice.

Hi my name is Jon im a brew addict, each week is a new brew adventure, its too fun i cant stop.A few things i learned my first brews are not to pitch the yeast to high or overpitch and keep a good steady primary fermentation temp, keep it clean,be patient, keep notes on everything, everything you will learn is what to do better this way with each one. Im not really an addict, maybe a fanatic, people may say thats just denial, man!but really is kind of an obsession.Have fun. Quality ingredients=great brew.
