what is the easiest way to filter your beers??? i have been using irish moss and gelatin?? i also use a mulsin sock at the end of my hose to catch alot of the hops. just wondering if there is a easier way???
The moss and gelatin are finings. They help coagulate things that have complimentary ions. The sock is kind of like a filter. But why don't you just whirlpool and then drain the wort off the top and put a filter inside your boil kettle?
I pour my wort through strainers that I have to dump a couple times depending on the amount of hops in the batch, works fine for me. Also does an OK job of aerating.
When I go from brew kettle to primary, I pour it through a couple strainers to catch stuff and to aerate. I also use a secondary. Then before I bottle, I cold crash. Makes for pretty clear beer.
