I've got an idea for controlling fermentation temps and was hoping for some feedback on whether or not it makes sense.

The carboy is placed in a bucket filled with water next to a fridge. When the temperature inside the carboy gets too high, a pump is switched on which pumps water from a container in the fridge circulating cold water through the bucket.

I've got some buckets, a temperature controller, and a fridge in the garage, so I would just need a small pump and some hose. I would also need to put a couple holes in the side of the fridge.

Is this a reasonable idea?

I think insulated air tight box is a must, if not, you will have a problem with condensation on the bucket, fridge and pump working pretty hard. there isnt much difference in temperature between the reserve water and whats in the bucket. its like can the fridge cool with door not closed all the way...
