i just got an external thermostat and set up my chest freezer for a fermentation chamber. My question is:

when i am finished brewing my batch (pale ale) do you put the fermentor in the chamber right away?? Or do you let the yeast start and then put it in?

I usually get the beer down to 70ish temperature range, and then aerate using a wine degasser. I pitch yeast and put it in the fermenter.

Be sure and put a blow off tube if the head space on your carboy is not sufficient. It is a pain to wake up and notice the beer has been over flowing in the fermentation chamber, and you now have to take out 6 heavy carboys to clean the mess on the bottom.
