Brewed my first all grain yesterday. Started with an ESB that looked good. All went well except that I ended up with 3.5 G of wort instead of 5. My OG was way high due to this. After researching, I added 1.5 G of water to it when going in the fermenter, hoping I was ok. I was super relieved to wake up to the fermenter bubbling away. Hopefully this turns out good. All is well so far.

why would you think you wouldn't have fermentation just cause you were short on volume? How was your og after you topped it off? Was it where you expected it to be? It might be a tade off do to incorrect volume ratios in the program if you used one so your temps were prob different.
