My grandpop drives up to see Les about 3 times a year. He can't get enough.

I can see why! I saw an old film of him playing once. Had to have been filmed in the late 1950s. I was just in awe of how nimble, fast and effortlessly he played. I should see if there is any YouTube footage of that.

Back in July the PBS series American Masters featured Les Paul. I was spellbound. He is that great. Not to mention all his inventions for playing and recording music, amazing.

I was never a Phish fan, but speaking of long and great guitar solo's Dave Gilmore's solo on Comfortably Numb is probably one of my all time favorites. I saw them live in '94 and remember the solo going on for ages, I subsequently purchased Pulse when it came out and that version was also pretty good. The best recorded version for me at least, is the one one the Pulse DVD, because unlike the CD you still get the unmatched light show.

I'd have to also agree with pretty much anything Eric Clapton has put out. I saw him last year about this time, probably one of my top concerts I have seen, he was playing with two other guitarists Derek Trucks and someone else I can not remember.
