Hello
I have brewed many batches of beer and a have extra hops that are getting old and i was woundering what you guys would suggest i make with 1.5Oz of sterling (7%) and .5 oz of liberty (4%). I'm just looking to make a simple 2.5 gal batch of oh i don't know....light malt or simple wheat brew. What kind of malt should i use and how much? Should i use a small amount of special grain? Any input is thanked!

You could make a bavarian hefe if you just used the liberty hops and maybe a tiny, tiny amount of the sterling.

3.5lbs wheat malt
3.5lbs german pilsener malt

.5oz liberty 60 mins
.25oz sterling 60 minutes

Mash 152 for 1 hour

Ferment in low 60s

No real need for any specialty grains in this recipe. If you were looking to get rid of more of the sterling you could possible use half an ounce or a little more at 60, then split the liberty up into 30 and 10 min additions. Then flavor pre-bottling with raspberry or other fruit extract to offset a bit of the bitterness.
