You can't call a team tough watching them play Vancouver. Just like you can't call them the best team in the league after beating Calgary! LOL

Silly bruins fans...

When did say they were the best? They are 3 point behind NYR, having played 2 less games. They are tied with Vancouver having played 4 less games. How's your team doing??

Hell of a lot better than anyone expected! :)

The whole Bruins are the best thing is more from the HFboards.com forums (biggest hockey forum on the internets), not here. There was a thread about how Boston may be the best team ever in the NHL (during the Flames beatdown)! LOL Apparently the kids there haven't heard of the 80's oilers, or 70's Islanders....

People here have more sense than that (for the most part.)

And the guy who said bostons was the toughest a couple posts back? Really? What about Ottawa or Pittsburgh, both who can match Boston guy for guy in fights...Philly too if Laviolette grew testicles and played Shelley once in a while....

No, Come on really. Who's your team???

Man, This is a real chippy nasty game.. It seems there's a Penalty every 5 minutes..Lucic got a game misconduct, for I think coming off the bench to fight..

Because you are from Boston, you may not actually be aware of the other teams in the league, especially ones in your division (That's what they call the group of teams you play against most). In each division there are 5 teams.

One of those teams is the Ottawa Senators. Now, because they're called the Senators, sometimes we call them the "Sens". As such, my signature refers to the "Sens", who are, in fact, the Senators (they're from Ottawa, remember).

Don't worry, this will all start being natural after you watch hockey for a couple more seasons. Being on a bandwagon can be tough, I know. Hang in there, you'll get it eventually Sport.

What's the name of Ottawa's football, basketball, and baseball teams?

Ha, I didn't see that...Even with the arrow. Watching it?? Please, I was playing it 5 years before you were even born..

The game has calmed down a bit..With all the trash talk a side, I'd love to see Vancouver 2 or 3 more times a year..Even though I think Boston is a more balanced team, This team is scary good. They are such a skilled team.

I don't understand? Are those sports or something? We watch hockey up here. I heard people in Boston just started watching it too! Welcome!

For the record, the thing they use is called a puck, not a ball, and yes, it is supposed to be flat, not round.

If you have any other questions, just let me know. :)

LOL

Just f-in with you guys (being the trash talk thread and all)

Florida player rep.
Pittsburgh player rep.

Where's the opinion of the Dallas player rep? I think I'll put about a gazillion dollars on him wanting change.

How about the Columbus player rep, Detroit player rep, and Nashville Player reps? LA? San Jose?

Teams in the East (mine included) are coddled in respect to travel. And not just travel, but time zones.

That's my point, it was all from the East, but the fact remains, geography is what it is. Move all the teams to cities where the divisions are relatively equal in travel or STFU. It's the way it is for every league when you have teams in cities that are isolated like Colorado, Seattle, Vancouver, Edmonton, etc. You can't help where the cities are established. You make millions as a player to play a friggin game and the travel comes with it. Tough cookies.

If I'm living and playing in Dallas, and playing half my games with a 2-hour time zone change, I'm not happy. If I was a fan of Detroit, I wouldn't want so many games starting at 10:00 or 10:30! It's absolutely ludicrous.

I understand, but that comes with the territory. You don't like watching the games at 10:30? Find a new team or get a DVR.

You are OK with the millionaire players having a union? Unions exist(ed) to protect workers from unreasonable and dangerous working conditions and unfair pay. Making 850,000 dollars a year to play 5 minutes a game, and being asked to fly around the country and spend 40% of your time on the road is not unreasonable working conditions.

No, it's not unreasonable, but owners thinking they can do whatever they want with the players who they don't own, and change the terms of their contracts and what is involved in upholding those contracts without the consent of the union is exactly why they need a union. If the league asked for input and was able to provide a schedule and travel schedules and all the details with the union without simply imposing their will while holding everyone else in the dark, maybe it wouldn't have been delayed.

We aren't talking about dangerous conditions in the coal mines with pennies an hour here. Unions as a whole are outmoded 19th century relics, unions for millionaires are ridiculous.

I agree for the most part about unions destroying American jobs, quality, and a huge reason why American jobs are going overseas or to Mexico, because the workers think they're in control of production and the product when they can be replaced. If they don't like the pay, etc, go work somewhere else. Can't really do that with the NHL because the players are what the fans watch. You don't buy a jersey or jacket of your favorite GM or coach. The league revolves around the players.

I'm very pleased that the realignment was shot down for the time being. I think it is a stupid idea and unnecessary. The worst part about it was the playoff scheme. I don't want the NHL to end up like the MLB, where if you are stuck in a really strong division then you're ****ed and never making the playoffs. Under these rules Phoenix wouldn't have even made the playoffs last year. I also do not want to see the same playoff series year after year. They say it will create "new rivalries". For me it will create boredeom, seeing pretty much the same teams play eachother in the playoffs all the time.

I think realignment is a necessity with Winnipeg now where they are and currently in the Southeast Division. There isn't an easy solution. The two closest teams to the East are now Columbus and Detroit and that would involve moving teams around in all three Eastern Conference divisions to get back to 3 geographical 5 team divisions.

+1 on no legitimate reason for a player's union. The NHL is hardly a sweat shop.

Team owners are looking for a return on their investment. If they can't get a decent return they generally will sell the team. The union allows players to demand unreasonable mounds of cash. This cash does not come out of the owner's pockets. It comes from higher ticket prices.

True, but again, without the players, you don't have a league or a product. It's the opposite of a replaceable workforce building or delivering goods and services. You can't simply replace the NHL players without putting a lesser quality product on the ice. What frustrates me about the ownership is the fact that we have a salary cap in place and part of that was to create lower ticket prices, but for the most part, prices have gone up since the inception of the new CBA with the salary cap.

Oh my god, Briere and Turris just fought!?! LOL What was that?

Just started the second period. I'm watching on DVR and skipping commercials and intermissions.

Yes, they are sports, all but football are played internationally as well. We know you don't watch them because the franchises that used to exist in the Canada are moving to the US, and they still suck in the US, like the former Montreal Expos (now Washington Nationals). Canada has one team left, Toronto. And what's crazy about that is Montreal and Toronto hate each other with a passion in hockey, but Les Habitants will cheer for the Blue Jays because they're the only Canadian team.

From now on, I would formally request that everyone calls our country "THE" Canada, kind of like how football players do that when stating their school... "THE university of blah blah..."

And Butler scores while I type. :)
yaaay team from The Canada!

Yeah, just for that, probably not. C, eh? N, eh? D, eh?

Just saw the Briere/Turris "fight." Comical at best.

Wow, what a game...I'm tired just watching..Too many penalties killed us. Love to see a few more a those every year.. Time to head to the rink and burn off some of snacks I just ate...
