Well, there was the cheap shot on Callahan. Ugh, can't score so throw some elbows around.

Haha, I gotta say I DO love it. GO SEnS GO!

Congrats to the Caps too... Holtby is doing just great in net.

The only two teams down two games right now are the Pens and Canucks... Who would have thought?

I would. I am tired of watching Malkin and Letang sticking everyone that comes near them. I love the playoffs!!! I love hockey grit!!! But I hate whiners, and I hate cheap stick play and goals in the crease... yes Franzen I'm talking about you.
Go Rangers!!!

Me too, but that has little to do with predicting a series.

e.g. I had HOPED that Philly would win the first two road games - or more precisely, that the Yinztahn Drama Club™© would lose them - but I'm pretty sure even a homer like jtkratzer didn't fully and truly EXPECT them to arrive back home up 2-0.

And while I'm sure that many people predicted Vancouver to be upset - as the flock tends to do - they have been fantastic at home, and nobody being serious and rational could have honestly predicted this (with enough certainty to put money on it without getting damn good odds.) What's more, those who might have actually insisted on an LA sweep no doubt cited the biggest reason as Luongo being unable to perform under pressure, when ironically he's been the only Canuck performing well - to the point where, despite a 4-2 loss, he received the first game's second star, even when Jonathan Quick didn't get a star that game.

I guess all true fans turn a blind eye toward their own team... I'm sure we all can agree that each NHL team has a dirty player, a power winger, a finesse *****, and a defensive D-man. That's the balance of a great team. I'll be the first to admit that I hate watching Letang stick somebody and run his mouth, but I love watching Ryan Kesler do the exact same thing. The Penguins have a great thing going... But I hate them.
I've always enjoyed watching the Sedin twins. They are ultra-talented, and relatively clean players. But they need a counterpart to do the necessary dirty work for them. I'm a die hard Rangers fan, and I love Gabborik and Richards, but they require Rupp and Prust, with a little Boyle thrown in there for good measure.
I'm really impressed with the matchups this year, and I expect all of these first series to be competitive, even if they do sweep.
Rant Off!!!

Let's Go Rangers!!!!

Sharks fell to the blues tonight. The whole game was complete horses**t. Sh*ty refing and ridiculous fighting on both sides. This wasnt a professional hockey game. It looked more like a scene from Slapshot. Lets hope the rest of the series is better.

The Caps series too... I mean, I know the Bruins suck and cheat, but they made a mistake having a gay team orgy rather than practicing. Obviously they thought it would be a cakewalk playing against the Caps' AHL goalie with both Vokoun and Neuvirth injured, which is actually kind of understandable when you see he was a 4th-round draft pick just a few years ago and had only started in 14 NHL games *ever*, with this being his first time even suiting up in the NHL playoffs. So it's no surprise that the Bruins decided practice time would be better spent fellating each other.

And yet the kid has only let in two goals in two games, the first one during an overtime loss. Damn impressive. You've got Tim Thomas between the opposing pipes, and the Bruins are getting their asses handed to them by Holtby. Amazing.

I'm totally pulling for the Caps in that series, I hate the bruins so much...

And good game by the Rangers, I found the event to be quite sporting, and enjoyed the gamesmanship as much as the match itself, Huzzah.

;) :) ;)

I'm an outspoken Flyers fan, no doubt, but when they suck, I call them out, like spotting then Pens these leads almost every game this year and giving up the first goal in almost all games. But they're winning. That's all that really matters. It's surprising, but I'd rather see them win without being the heart attack kids/comeback kids.

I'm not a conspiracy guy by any means, but it's hard to notice how those boarding calls over several different games were made. Nothing more on that.

I usually see the word homer used in a negative sense. I'm not blind to the Flyers failures, mistakes, or inadequacies. I don't think they're water walkers. I wasn't expecting to get both games on the road, but I'm certainly not shocked considering their road record this year, their history at the Consol Energy Center, and how they've played the Pens all year.

I am surprised Fleury hasn't turned into a version of Brodeur like he normally does against Philly in the Second Season.

I know the Flyers are more than capable of beating the Pens, and the Pens certainly are skilled and have the players that it wouldn't surprise me no matter what the outcome of the first two games or the series was. I love the amount of humble pie being consumed around the world with the way things have gone because far too many folks essentially said the Flyers don't deserve to be on the same ice as the Pens, saying everything short of calling he Flyers by the name of District 5.

Another thing that doesn't surprise me - all the bullsh*t about how the Pens are going to own the Flyers has gone deafeningly silent. Did you all crawl back in your holes and under your rocks since you ignored everything about these two teams other than their overall records and that Pittsburgh got "healthy" with Crosby back? I guess it is rude to talk with your mouth full of that pie. Tastes good, right?

What the hell are you talking about? That was a great game, at least for the blues. The reffing was equally sh*tty on both sides, so that means it was good. The fights weren't terrible, although none of our respective bruisers went at it. Polak owned that guy at the end though. There were some questionable hits, and some guys lost their cool, but that's half the fun.

By the way, I feel bad for Vlasic. Tough play for him, the loss wasn't his fault.

Equally sh*tty reffing doesn't make for good reffing.

Im not saying i didn't have fun watching it but i just kind of expect more. I am not really against fighting. My grandfather was from Sweden and played until he immigrated to the US. He was staunchly opposed to fighting because its not they way he played. Personally I believe if the rules let you then go for it. I've grown up watching the fight. There is a great adrenaline rush. That being said the game became for about the fight rather than trying to score. And to be fair the sharks started it and the blues followed.

I really felt bad for Vlasic too.

And BTW Polak may have owned that guy at the end but Boyle owned your boy towards the end of the 3rd.

I'm not sure who you are talking about with your statement. First, I never said the Pens would own the flyers. In fact, I said it would be a brutal series for both teams. So far, that prediction is holding up. I did predict the pens would take the flyers which so far isn't looking so good. (Although it pays to remember that when the Pens last won the Stanley Cup, they had two series where they were down 2-0 after the first two games). I also posted about how the Penguins defensive play and power play had changed for the worse since Crosby's return...this was before the series started, and that they would be eliminated if they didn't get it straightened out.

By the way, I spent the last couple of days in good old PA, picked up three 20-gallon stainless steel pots (+lids), nice to be back in my (old) home state.

It was a bit much last night. Getting into fight after fight cause they were being out played, quite pathetic. Hopefully when we get back home we will start seeing the Sharks play some better hockey.

You may not have to though. That's the blues problem all year. We might outplay you the next 5 games, but lose 3 of them. Last night, the pucks were going in, Monday, they may not. Plus we finally had the right goalie in. I think Elliott has outplayed Halak 80% of the year. If the contracts were reversed, there would be no question about who is the #1.

Should be a good tough series either way.

I will go to my grave telling shouting from the highest mountain: Hockey teams show up to play their best game in front of their best goalie. When was the last time a team won the cup with a backup between the pipes? St. Louis got back to what they do: beat teams physically and take advantage of the head games. Sharks aren't thinking about scoring if they are thinking about retaliating. Plus they have a young, fast team that can backcheck all night long!

Copyright, there were a number of folks talking a bunch of sh*t after the first period of Game 1. I saw Crosby was pulled off the first PP unit and they scored on it in Game 2. I don't think at all that this series is over. It isn't until one team has the number 4 in the win column.

Dang, Eddie Olcyzk can't be on the broadcast cause he's sick. Schucks, I live for his commentary. *Barf*
