So, I'm just about to get going with my K-RIMS rig. I have a custom eKettle coming from Spike and I'll be doing a water run through shortly after it arrives. I thought I had things figured out before on this, but I haven't used the mash settings in quite awhile on my Auber cube (back with my failed attempt to drive an induction burner with it) I re-read the user's guide and now I'm a bit confused.
I want to do this:
Heat to strike temp (59 degrees for example) and hold there until I'm ready to dough in
Turn off output while I pump from kettle to MLT and allow mash to rest
Start 60 minute mash step, maintain temp at 152 for example
After 60 minutes, ramp to boil (I'll begin heating to boil while letting the wort drain from the MLT)
After boil starts, hold boil temp for 60 minutes
End
I thought there was a way to pause the output at the end of a step, which I need for the time I'm pumping to the MLT to dough in and rest. But stop at the end of the ramp to strike would force me to restart at the beginning and end ends the entire series of steps. Is there no easy way to just turn off the element temporarily while keeping the program "in process"?
I was planning to pump the full volume to the MLT initially. I guess I could just pump a smaller quantity to achieve the mash ratio I expect to use and let the remaining mash water fall to the mash temp while I dough in. The main thing is to make sure I don't dry fire the element.
Any programming help here from the veteran ezboil users would be greatly appreciated.
